Contract

For your specific contract, contact University Housing or log into The Dawg House. Download a general copy of the housing contract below for review prior to registration.

The housing contract is a legally binding agreement between the resident and the Board of Regents and the University System of Georgia that secures a living space. The housing contract:

  • Defines the terms and conditions of occupancy
  • Addresses pertinent Georgia laws
  • Refers to specific sections of the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook

By executing your contract online, you are agreeing to the terms of the housing contract and making a commitment to live on campus and to pay rates for the fall and spring semesters and, in some cases, summer semester.

We do, however, encourage students to seek out study abroad opportunities or internships, and those provisions are included in the section of your contract detailing proper termination. Failure to properly terminate a housing contract could result in fees or flags on your student account, which could impact your ability to register for classes or receive a copy of your transcript following graduation.

Proper planning and review of your contract will help ensure that you are comfortable with your living space and understand the terms of occupancy. As always, if you have any questions about the contract, please feel free to contact University Housing at 706-542-1421 or by emailing University Housing at housing@uga.edu

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is the contract due?

Check your email for a deadline to execute your contract. Missing the contract deadline may mean losing your space!

What is the housing contract?

Your housing contract is a legally binding agreement between the resident and the Board of Regents and the University System of Georgia that secures a living space. In addition to defining the terms and conditions of occupancy, the contract includes more than a dozen other sections pertaining to areas such as Georgia law, the Student Code of Conduct, the student handbook and the Community Guide. In other words, it’s a pretty big deal. We encourage you to involve your family in reading and understanding the contract. In fact, if you’re under 18, we’ll ask a parent or guardian to sign the contract as well.

Where can I find my housing contract?

Log onto The Dawg House to access your specific contract; you can also find a generalized copy on our website at https://housing.uga.edu/contract/.

What if I want to change my room?

If you wish to change your assignment, you must first execute your contract, then complete a room change request in The Dawg House. Log in and choose the ROOM CHANGE REQUEST option. Room change offers are made based on date of submission and availability. This option is not available for summer school housing.

Do I need to pay anything now?

Housing charges are posted to your student account and follow the deadlines and policies set by the Bursar and Treasury Services office.

When will I receive specific roommate information?

When your roommate has executed their contract, you’ll be able to access their information in The Dawg House. Unless they have prohibited housing from sharing their information, you should be able to send and receive messages from one another.

I will not be attending UGA anymore. Should I execute the contract?

If you are unsure if you will be coming to UGA, do not execute your contract until you are sure. If you execute the contract and do not enroll in classes at UGA, you may cancel your housing contract in The Dawg House by June 30 (fall enrollment only) to avoid a $300 cancellation fee based on non-enrollment.
