Hunker Down With Housing

HUNKER DOWN WITH HOUSING VOLUNTEERS

Move in is an annual event featuring more than 300 student volunteers who help to welcome students to the University of Georgia. Each student volunteer has a particular role: working in the parking lots, directing students and their families to the right locations for check-in and move in, helping with sustainability efforts, and other duties that help to make the move-in process as smooth as possible.

Volunteers are the largest part of the move-in process, other than new students and their families! For participating, volunteers can move in early (see information below), receive a free t-shirt, and free breakfast and lunch on the days they volunteer.

  • Volunteer move-in: Thursday, August 13, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Volunteer training (mandatory): August 13 at 6 p.m.
  • Volunteer dates: Friday, August 14-Saturday, August 15

Living on campus is not a requirement to volunteer; all students enrolled for fall 2026 are eligible to volunteer.

If you have any questions about volunteering, you can call us at 706-542-3395 or email us at hsg-hunkerdown@uga.edu.

Sign up for actual shifts will occur later in the summer.
